Building Trust in Cloud Computing
This presentation will introduce a new approach to using and trusting cloud through looking at it from a holistic approach. The proposed approach consists of developing a cloud computing trust model (CCTM) through a cloud computing security solution named H-AES. CCTM is designed with security features in mind and contains all of the most important elements that are needed in order to build trust in a cloud computing environment. H-AES is a hardware security solution which is used with CCTM and is able to satisfy the model according to certain trust requirements that were derived from surveying various companies. H-AES is a 128-bit hardware implementation of the advanced encryption standard (AES) for data transmission which is able to encrypt, decrypt and transmit information in a real time communication mode. The proposed solution removes the responsibility of a third party to be used as a trusted authority in many software approach solutions and provides higher control to the application owner. This way cloud providers are able to offer more suitable security Service Level Agreements (SLA) and cloud users would feel more confident into entering the cloud with encrypted data. This model is based on three main elements: security, control and quality which were derived from surveying a number of industry professionals and IT companies.
